Bohol ChronicleThe National Food Authority (NFA) has assured enough rice supply in Bohol and has implemented measures to ensure the availability of NFA rice in all its accredited outlets.
This assurance was issued by NFA Bohol Manager Nestor Rey E. Alcoseba to allay fears of any rice shortage in the province. Some 520,000 bags of NFA rice have been allocated for the province this year. The local NFA expects another 16,000 bags rice shipment to arrive this week.
Alcoseba said that to ensure NFA rice will be available to consumers, it has started implementing this week additional measures to prevent unscrupulous practices such as overpricing, diversion and adulteration or mixing NFA rice with commercial stocks to command a higher price. It has started escorting direct delivery of rice allocation to accredited outlets in the public markets; repacking of NFA rice into 1 kilogram pack to ensure that consumers get the actual NFA rice and strict market monitoring through its Palengke Watch program.
