President Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo will lead top government officials in the Local Peace and Security Assembly (LPSA) on August 24 in Tagbilaran City, Bohol.
Highlights during the assembly include the presentations and briefings on the current peace and order situation in Central Visayas by Police Regional Office in Central Visayas (PRO-7) Chief Supt. Silverio Alarcio Jr., the cost of insurgency in the region by Gov. Gwen Garcia and the role of Central Visayas in the First World Philippines by the National Economic and Development Authority.
The Office of the Presidential Adviser on the Peace Process will also give an overview of the government's peace and development initiatives. Bohol Governor Erico Aumentado will discuss peace and development among the local government units in the province.
Department of Interior and Local Government Secretary Rolando Puno will give the keynote address while the National Security Council is tasked to give an overview of the assembly.
Vice President Noli de Castro will also accompany President Arroyo in her Bohol trip.
Over 30 Cabinet officials and other government heads will grace the LPSA.
They are Executive Secretary Eduardo Ermita, Defense Secretary Gilberto Teodoro, Foreign Affairs Secretary Alberto Romulo, National Security Council Secretary Norberto Gonzales, Press Secretary Ignacio Bunye and Philippine Information Agency Secretary Conrado Limcaoco Jr.
Workshop group discussions will form part of the program where the respective groups' outputs will be presented afterwards during the plenary session.
The different group reports will be consolidated and integrated for presentation to President Arroyo when she arrives.
President Arroyo is expected to deliver a speech during the assembly.
