With less than a week before the start of Misa de Gallo--the target launching of tight security for the holidays-none of the police stations in the towns and the city have submitted any accomplishment report regarding the instruction from the Philippine National Police (PNP) national headquarters in Camp Crame to implement the standard operating procedures during Yuletide season.
Police Inspector Mauro Sumaylo, deputy director for operations of the Bohol Police Provincial Office (BPPO), yesterday told the Chronicle that they received a letter of instruction from PNP-national headquarters last week to implement the usual security measures during Yuletide season.
However, they are still waiting for the compliance report from the different police stations in the 47 towns and the city.
According to Sumaylo, the PNP-national headquarters instructed them to put up public assistance desks in areas where people converge or where the number of people increases during the holiday season such as malls, tourist destinations, seaports, and airports.
All police stations are also instructed to deploy road marshals, mobile patrol and foot patrol in all areas within their areas of responsibility.
Sumaylo said each of the 48 police stations in the province is complete with logistics for mobility such as patrol cars.
He also said, however, that there is no deadline for the compliance, except for the target to do it as soon as possible before the start of Misa de Gallo.
