More divers needed for retrieval of Bien Unido Mayor's Bodyby Philippine News Agency | 17/06/2017
CEBU CITY — As the search for the body of slain Bien Unido, Bohol Mayor Gisela Boniel expands northward from where the body was allegedly dumped, the Lapu-Lapu City Police Office (LLCPO) appealed for more volunteer divers to help in the exploration.
Senior Supt. Rommel Cabagnot, director of the LLCPO, and his deputy Chief Insp. Junel Caadlawon are calling for more divers to volunteer as they lack the manpower to cover the much expansive seawaters towards Camotes Island.
Caadlawon told the media on Friday afternoon that interested volunteers only need to present themselves and coordinate with the search and retrieval operations team for their areas of assignment. He said the volunteers are assured of provisions while at sea.
The search is now on its 10th day after the lady mayor was abducted from a resort in Bien Unido and was allegedly shot to death by her husband, Bohol Provincial Board Member Nino Rey Boniel, aboard a motorboat.
Police learned that the mayor’s body was wrapped in a fishing net with big rocks reportedly weighing 30 kilos before she was dumped down the waters between Bohol and Mactan Island.
The Bohol PB member has been charged with parricide and is now detained at the Fuente Police Station. His eight henchmen who allegedly aided him in the abduction and dumping of Gisela have been charged separately. Four of the other eight accused are still at large. LBG/PNA-northboundasia.com
