Boholanos will once again experience another large-scale Medical-Surgical and Dental Mission to be conducted by the two international groups. The week-long humanitarian activity scheduled January 18-22, 2010 which will start tomorrow and will culminate on Friday is set to cater thousands of indigent patients targeting a total of 10,000 beneficiaries for the medical consultation, dissemination of medicines, dental services and various major surgical operations.
Fancy Baluyot - Consultant, Health and Social Services and President/CEO, Philippine Gift of Life Foundation bared that these outreach missions is jointly sponsored by the Provincial Government of Bohol thru active leadership of Governor Erico Aumentado and Vice Governor Julius Caesar Herrera closely coordinated by the Bohol Health and Social Services Office assisted by the Philippine Gift of Life supported by the Department of Health among other support groups.
SP Committee on Health Chairman, Dr. Cesar Tomas Lopez advised that a team of expert surgeons and physicians from Texas, USA headed by Dr. Gloria Zappia with local coordinators, John Enerio and Eugene Guzon; Kaiser Permanente Hospital (Ucla) headed by Dr. Scott Lentz and Yale College of Medicine numbering to 100 missioners will perform simultaneous medical and surgical mission at the Bohol Cultural Center and Gov. Celestino Gallares Memorial Hospital thru Chief of Hospital, Dr. Nenita M. Po. Provincial Health Officer, Dr. Reymoses Cabagnot along with Provincial Administrator, Atty. Handel Lagunay further relayed that another group composed of 70 doctors and nurses from the Sacramento Fil-Am Health Care Association spearheaded by Janet Chuidian and Surgical Eye Expedition International led by Dr. Mark Drabkin will also hold a separate medical and surgical mission at the Governor's Mansion and Bohol Medical Care Institute headed by Richard Uy.
Furthermore, Gov. Aumentado expressed his utmost gratitude to the two international groups for coming over and generously sharing their time and medical expertise which will immeasurably benefit thousands of our marginalized constituents. Their philanthropic act of volunteerism will always be gratefully remembered and appreciated.
