Philippine Gift of Life, the group responsible for the free heart surgeries of hundreds of indigent Boholanos will launch its 12th year anniversary.
Dr. Ramie Cadag, its chairman based in the United States arrived here last Thursday together with Dr. & Mrs. Bong Lerias, Toto Jabonilo, Dr. Alice Francisco and Aris Francisco for today's launching.
The anniversary will be culminated on Sept. 20, 2011.
The group is planning for the next heart operation sometime this year at the Medical Mission Group hospital and health Services (Bohol Cooperative Hospital).
This will be coordinated by the Phil Gift of Life, heart Foundation of the Philippines through Chairman Francisco Dizon, Philippine heart Center through Director Ludgerio Torres, the provincial government through Gov. Edgar Chatto and Vice Gov. Concepcion Lim, Home Reach Foundation through Chairman Pepe Recitas and co-chairman Cadag, Department of Health through DOH Sec. Enrique Ona and Asst Sec. Elmer Punzalan, Rep. Rene Relampagos, Rep. Erico Aumentado, Rep. Arthur Yap, AFP Chief Ricardo David, PCSO Chair Margie Juico.
The Phil. Gift of Life is composed of Cadag as chairman, Baluyot, president/CEO, Rev. Fr. Victor Bompat, vice president; Peter Dejaresco, secretary; Engr. Albert Uy, treasurer; Judith Ang, auditor.
Directors are Dr. Mary Ann Ruiz, Richard Uy, Benjamin Ong, Dr. Recitas, Dr. Bong Lerias, Joseph Alagon.
Advisers are Gov. Chatto, Rep. Aumentado, Bishop Leopoldo Tumulak. Consultants are Dr. Ludgerio Torres, Dr. Avelino Aventura, Dr. Santos Jose Abad, Dr Florante Lomibao, Dr. Frederic Malubay, Dr. Ma. Lourdes Casas, Dr. Edgardo Ortiz, Dr. Elmer Punzalan, Dr. Kazan Baluyot and Dr. Julia Maape.
Since its inception on Jan. 9, 1999, the Philippine Gift of life has helped hundreds of heart patients who underwent surgeries in USA, Canada, Philippine Heart Center, Philippine General Hospital, Bohol Heart Missions while thousands of patients with other major ailments gain a new lease of life through its humanitarian programs.
Mrs. Baluyot was officially requested, designated and chosen to head the Phil. Gift of Life under the Gift of Life Rotary International District 7250 of New York by then Gift of Life RI District president John Capri and program director Pat Coulaz.
At that time, Baluyot was Red Cross Bohol Chapter Administrator and the first lady elected president of the Rotary Club District 3860 of Tagbilaran.
Gift of Life International was founded by the late chairman emeritus Kurt Weishaupt in 1975.
The Gift of Life supporters and members include Rotarians, Lions, Jaycees, Kiwanis, philanthropists, businessmen, government officials, media and other foundations in many countries.
