City, 14 Bohol First District Towns Will Get P1-B Infra Projects
« on: February 21, 2017, 06:15:55 PM »
Bohol’s first district towns are expected to benefit of at least P1 billion worth of infrastructure projects in 2017, according to First District Rep. Rene Lopez Relampagos.

“All roads lead to development,” said Relampagos in a statement. “It is not 100% development and improvement at once but mile by mile, we will get there.”

Relampagos is referring to Republic Act No. 10924 or the General Appropriations Act of 2017 where the amount of Php 1.165 billion was allocated for road infrastructure projects in the first district of Bohol alone.  This will benefit all 14 municipalities and the province’s lone capital city of Tagbilaran.

The amount allocated will be used for national road network services, flood management services and maintenance and construction services of other infrastructures as well as various local infrastructure programs.

“These are important projects. Many of these are still part of the province’ recovery program from the earthquake in 2013.”

National road network services cover: preventive maintenance, rehabilitation and reconstruction, upgrading of damaged national roads including those prone to slips, slope collapse and landslide at Antequera, Tubigon, Cortes, Balilihan, Catigbian, Maribojoc, Loon, Tagbilaran City, Corella and Sikatuna;  network development through construction of bike lanes, paving of shoulders and drainage improvement, and  retrofitting, major repair of damaged bridges, maintenance of existing bridges and construction of new ones, along national roads.

For this year, the identified bridges for repair are Cahayag Bridge, Jacinto Borja Bridge, Montana Bridge and Riverside (Songculan) Bridge. For new bridges, the following were identified: New Abatan Bridge (Maribojoc, Cortes), New Moalong Bridge (Loon), New Tagbuane Bridge (Alburquerque).

Flood Management Services pertain to the construction and maintenance of flood mitigation structures and drainage systems along river systems in Tubigon, Calape, Cortes and Balilihan.

Maintenance and Construction Services of Other Infrastructures refer to the construction and improvement of access roads leading to seaports specifically to the ports of Alburquerque, Baclayon and Catagbacan (Loon) International Cruise Ship Port.

As to local infrastructure projects, identified are construction and completion of multipurpose facilities in certain barangays at Tagbilaran City, Dauis, Corella, Baclayon, Loon, Panglao and Cortes; concreting and construction of various barangay roads, access roads and coastal roads in Tagbilaran City, Loon, Tubigon, Sikatuna, and Catigbian; construction of water system at Maribojoc; and construction of seawall/flood control at Baclayon.

All funds will be released to the Bohol First District Engineering Office who is the implementor of all these projects.

“The first district can rest assure of my legislative support for the enactment of budget measures to improve our district. I encourage local leaders to coordinate with my office especially when calls for projects and programs for the 2018 budget starts,” noted Relampagos.
