At last, the Bohol Federation of Senior Citizens Association of the Philippines (Bohol-FSCAP) saw the edifice built intentionally for them, along Tamblot St., in Tagbilaran City.
In fact, the blessing, inauguration and turn-over rolled in one ceremony was held Thursday last week.
Members of the federation saw the initial days "turbulent", with scarce resources to start, then barely moving on from the building's 40 percent completion.
The fate of the project was passed on from one president to the next and the rest of the succeeding presidents and board members of the association.
The dire need to have the building challenged the federation members to work hard amid the uncertainties that plagued their association.
It was during the leadership of Luis Cabilla as president, and then the late Teotimo Borja that works on the project has moved with substantial improvement.
The activity on raffle draw brought in considerable proceeds which comprise a big chunk of the association's fund-raising campaign.
Moreover, Governor Erico Aumentado and the two congressmen chipped in a substantial aid for the completion of the project.
The current president of Bohol-FSCAP, Melchor Daniel and the new set of board members recently put up the finishing touches of the building and center.
During the ceremony last June 21, Engr. Isabel Torralba of the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) symbolically turned-over the edifice to first district Representative Edgar Chatto as represented by Mary Nancy Tanedo, then to Periolo Apat who represented the governor.
Msgr. Margarito Gonzaga officiated the blessing of the building.
Apat also gave a message, in behalf of the governor, while Provincial Social Welfare and Development Officer Constancia Tuñacao gave the closing remarks.
As a way of expressing gratitude for the blessings, the association hosted a dinner after the event.
