Bohol police who could not make it as marksmen would be marked men.

Bohol police assistant regional director for operations PSSupt Louie Oppus and Police Provincial director Constantino Barot bared this warning to policemen during the inauguration of the new Bohol Police Provincial Office (BPPO) firing range at the back of Camp Dagohoy Friday, August 10.

Speaking for Police Regional Director Marcelo Garbo who was in Manila, Oppus said the new firing range provides no more excuses for policemen in Bohol to fail marksmanship.

This new facility is intended to improve your skills in fire-arms handling and proficiency as the police hierarchy envisions all PNP personnel to have been trained in fire-arms proficiency by the end of the year, adds PSSupt Barot, in his message to police station commanders, gun club members and key police officers.

While he urged local police to use the new facility to better serve and protect the Boholanos and the province in general, he also said not getting as marksman has no excuses.

“There is now no reason, why you can not do it”, PSSupt Oppus said, as he added that the police organization has provided each provincial and city police offices reloading machines to assure sufficient supply of ammunitions for range practice.

He chided policemen who, upon a police test failed police marksmanship, saying that the new firing range would help police attain at least the marksman category.

He also shared that the police organizations has programmed that each police office will have been issued a Glock 9mm service pistol by the end of the year.

Police must get accustomed to his weapon, know when to shoot, where to hide and how to take care of your shots, he beamed.

He said police must strive to abide by the International Defensive Pistol Association (IDPA), which puts up the shooters’ categories as novice, marksmen, sharpshooter, expert and masters.

At the ceremonies, Pssupt Barot led the ceremonial firing and was joined by police officers, gun club members, government officials and anti-crime supporters.
