A total of 341,515 beneficiaries were catered to in medical missions conducted in the province from 2001 up to the present.
The medical missions, though undertaken for free, can be quantified to cost a total of more than P1.5 billion.
Gov. Erico Aumentado and Vice Gov. Julius Caesar Herrera extend their sincerest thanks and deepest gratitude to foundations and associations based in the country and abroad, officers and member-manpower, government agencies, businessmen, donors, philanthropists, supporters and volunteers who made the medical missions successful.
Fancy S. Baluyot, consultant Health and Social Services and president of Gift of Life, who have been in the forefront of continuous humanitarian services for the past 47 years, cited Gov. Aumentado and Vice Gov. Herrera for their unwavering support to the humanitarian endeavor.
Baluyot also expressed gratitude to SP health committee chair Cesar Tomas Lopez, former provincial administrator Tomas Abapo Jr. and Provincial Administrator Handel Lagunay.
Also at the forefront of medical missions are Gift of Life, DOH, Home Reach Foundation, Bohol Medical Surgical Team Committee and participating hospitals, with volunteer doctors, nurses and dentists.
Among the highlights of the missions are heart surgical mission operations done outside the Metro Manila in 2003, 2005, 2007, 2009. Part of the mission is the sending of patients to Manila, Canada, USA, and thousands of cataract cases which was done and earned an entry to the Guinness Book of World Record for the most number of patients operated, missions usually done simultaneously in three or more venues.
Donations of hospital equipments and supplies came from foreign countries and the Philippine government.
