BOHOL stands to get another P17-million worth of projects from the Local Government Development Program (LGDP), funded by the Australian Agency for International Development (AusAID).
This after Gov. Erico Aumentado last week endorsed to LGDP Phase 1 Program Director David Goodwins his preferred tenderers for AusAID approval.
The governor’s endorsement or sign-off letter came after LGDP in Bohol under Partnership Adviser Rosalinda Paredes reported that the two-level assessment process for the tenders received has been completed.
The packages include the Bohol Integrated Water Supply System Master Plan (BHL-01) at A$248,309 and the Bohol Agricultural Value Chain Study (BHL-02) at A$127,097. These translate into P15 million but since another P2 million is allocated for capability building, the total assistance would be around P17 milion, Paredes said.
The LGDP generally acts as conduit for the AusAID funding. The nitty-gritty still goes to the Provincial Government Support Team (PGST) headed by lawyer Juanito Cambangay and the representatives of the Bohol Integrated Area Development (BIAD) clusters assessed and approved the preferred tenderers that Aumentado, as chair of the project advisory board, endorsed to AusAID.
In his letter, Aumentado said the Provincial Government of Bohol accepts and affirms the preferred tenderers which came out from the two-tiered selection process conducted by the Tender Assessment Panels (TAP) of both the Bohol Local Area Development Partnership (LADP) and the LGDP in Manila .
The letter gives the green light for Woodfields Consultants, Inc. (WCI) to implement BHL-01 and the Strategic Development Cooperation-Asia (SDC-Asia) to implement BHL-02.
At the same time, the governor reiterated his support and commitment within the context of his mandates under the project, to actively participate in related activities in the course of the implementation of the packages of assistance and provide in-kind counterpart contributions, if needed.
“We also express our hopes that the implementation of the packages of assistance will build the capabilities of LGUs in both water supply systems development and agricultural value chain,†he said.
Next issue: A closer look into how Bohol bagged the packages of assistance – or the activities before the sign off letter.
