Power service interruptions are expected to be experienced this week while hydro electric sources continue to register shortfall of water.
Bohol surprisingly has almost the same peak hours in the daytime and nighttime while the province is not spared from the hot summer temperature worsen by the El Nino phenomenon.
The peak load would require 58 mega power in the entire province.
During this shortfall of rains, the Hanopol hydro plant generates 2 mega only, instead of 5 while the Loboc hydro gives out 800 watts instead of 1.2 mega. The Sevilla mini hydro contributes 1.5 mega power supply (instead of 2.5 mega) while the Dampas diesel power plant generates 10 mega, instead of 16 mega.
Bohol power sources total to 14.8 mega while the peak load requirement is 58 mega. The difference of 43 mega is being supplied by the Leyte geothermal power plant as the source of electricity.
The Leyte power sources are also limited in its output these days due to the shortfall of rain. This is one of the reasons why the power situation in the entire Visayas remains volatile for long brownouts or even blackout. - Bohol Chronicle
