Bohol Chronicle: The much awaited Panglao Bohol International Airport will finally be subjected for bidding on Jan. 25, 2010 at the Manila International Airport Authority audio-visual room in Pasay City.
The date was prescribed in the invitation to bid which was published in yesterday's issue of the Philippine Daily Inquirer.
Gov. Erico Aumentado welcomed the development as it will ensure that the airport construction will not be affected by the election ban, thus, civil works can commence by the first or second quarter of next year.
The pre-bid conference is set on Dec. 14 for the Phase I of the airport project which amounted to P1.52 billion.
The entire project cost is P7.5 billion.
Chairman Roberto Uy of the bids and awards committee said that Phase I of the project will include cleaning and grubbing, excavation, embankment and drainage system of the airport.
The Phase I also includes the facilities for the engineer and employer, project vehicles, project equipment and survey equipment.
The publication of the invitation to bid officially signals the taking off of the airport development project which Gov. Aumentado together with other Lakas officials here demanded from Pres. Arroyo to commence before the election ban.
"It could be an election issue against us if the project could not commence before the May polls," the governor was quoted as telling the President during one of their meetings in Malacañang.
