THE Sangguniang Panlalawigan has endorsed to the Senate and the Lower House seven bills seeking to nationalize as many provincial road sections.
Principally authored by Rep. Erico Aumentado (2nd District, Bohol), the bills, when approved, will also appropriate funds for the maintenance and improvement of the roads.
The endorsement came in the form of a resolution, copies of which were furnished to Senate President Juan Ponce Enrile, Speaker Feliciano Belmonte and Aumentado for their information.
The bills were similarly but separately endorsed by the Provincial Development Council chaired by Gov. Edgardo Chatto to the Central Visayas Regional Development Council.
These are House Bill 387 covering the provincial roads in President Garcia town, HB 1101 covering the Junction Tagbilaran East Road Jct. (TER)-Guindulman-Anda-Candijay Road and the Jct. (TER) Candijay-Mabuni-Ubay Road or the Anda Peninsula Highway, co-authored with Rep. Arthur Yap (3rdDistrict).
HB 4118 covering the Jct. Tagbilaran North Road (TNR) via Lapacan-Magtangtang (Danao) Road, HB 4192 covering the San Isidro-Catigbian via Caimbang Road, HB 4193 covering the JCT, Tagbilaran Interior Road (LIR) Mahayag-Danao Road, HB 4240 covering the Jct. (TER) Mabuhay (Ubay)-Bayongan, San Miguel Road and HB 4869 covering the Jct. TNR Cahayag (Tubigon)-Cabanugan (San Isidro)-Catigbian which he co-authored with Rep. Rene Relampagos (1st District, Bohol.)
The SP resolution stated that the conversion can save tremendous resources of the provincial government, freeing the funds to spend for other priority development projects.
