By Julie M. AurelioTelevision actor Bing Davao and his wife Fatima were arrested by police Friday night after the couple were caught engaging in a shabu session with two others in an apartment in Maharlika Village, Taguig City.
Nabbed along with the couple were PO1 Abdulpatta Tula, 28, who is assigned to PCP-2 of the Taguig City police, and Hasbi Muco, 39, a former policeman.
Insp. Ariel Bait, intelligence chief of the Taguig City police, said the four suspects were caught at around 9:20 p.m. Friday when operatives raided Davao’s residence at Room 202, Building 4, Medium Rise in Maharlika Village.
But the cops or the 47-year-old actor were not the targets of the operation, but a certain Macmond Ibrahim, who has a pending arrest warrant for illegal drug possession issued by the Pasig City Regional Trial Court.
“We received reports that Ibrahim was at Building 4, but we saw Davao during a drug session instead. The arrest was incidental,†Bait said.
The operatives were unable to find their target, Ibrahim, whose arrest warrant was issued by Judge Pablito Roxas of the Pasig City RTC Branch 70.
Davao, Muco and Tula were taking turns taking shabu when caught by police. Davao’s wife, who was also inside the apartment, allegedly yielded three plastic sachets of suspected shabu.
Bait said they had been conducting a surveillance of Fatima, whom they had long suspected of selling illegal drugs.
“Verified talaga yang si Fatima na humahawak ng shabu (It was verified that Fatima was handling shabu),†Bait said in a text message sent to the Inquirer, adding that she had been under watch for six months.
Davao, the older brother of actor Ricky Davao and son of actor Charlie Davao, refused to comment on his arrest.
“I am sorry. I have not had any decent sleep. I don’t want to talk about this incident yet,†a haggard-looking Davao told the Inquirer from his jail cell.
The actor and his wife are detained at the Taguig City police station.
The actor had starred in the 2002 TV series “Basta’t Kasama Kita†and in the 2000 drama “Pangako Sa’yo.â€
