tsk tsk, violent prisoners/ criminals man imong gi post diri nong. dili man intawn na sila celebrity. criminals man intawn.
unless you are a fan of them, of course, which i hope not..
since this thread is about "celebrity", let's take a closer look then at what the word means:
"A celebrity (sometimes referred to as a celeb in popular culture) is a person who holds a high degree of recognition in a society or culture. Generally speaking, a celebrity is someone who receives media attention and in certain circumstances displays an extroverted personality.
There is a wide range of ways by which people may become celebrities: from their profession, appearances in the mass media, or even by complete accident or infamy. The term "Instant celebrity" describes someone who becomes a celebrity in a very short period of time. In some places, someone who somehow achieves a small amount of transient fame, through hype or mass media, is stereotyped as a B-grade celebrity."
(wikipedia)Synonyms: big name, cause célèbre (also cause celebre), celeb, figure, icon (also ikon), light, luminary, megastar, name, notability, notable, notoriety, personage, personality, somebody, standout, star, superstar, VIP
(Merriam-Webster)in keeping with the blue-colored words (emphasis mine) criminals who just happen to have beards but whose crimes hugged the headlines for a time and whose names achieved recognition qualify as celebrities.
and like current news, today's celebrity could be tomorrow's history. i don't know what hype was involved (because celebrity involves media hype as we know it) in your estimation that marcelo h. del pilar (the father of philippine masonry, besides), moses, king solomon and jesus christ himself are celebrities, even if they all had beards.
to be honest, i cannot imagine moses and michael jackson in the same hall of fame.
