How to Use Olive Oil to Fade Acne Scars
« on: December 27, 2009, 01:17:02 PM »
Acne scars are a result of picking or popping pimples. Many people have to live with their acne and the scars that are left behind on a daily basis. With all the products in the market these days it's really difficult to choose the right one. Most don't know that the answer to their problem is right in the kitchen. Olive oil is one of the best oils to use for at-home remedies.

Instructions
Things You'll Need:
•   1/4 tsp. olive oil
•   1/8 tsp. lemon juice
•   2 tbsp. baking soda
•   1 tbsp. olive oil

1. In a bowl, add the olive oil and the lemon juice. Stir to combine and set aside. These ingredients help fade acne scars. The lemon juice is optional and does not need to be used if you do not have it on hand.

2. Wash face with an oil free cleanser and pat dry. With clean hands, dip the tips of the fingers in the olive oil and massage into the skin, concentrating on the acne scars. Leave on for 20 minutes and then rinse off with lukewarm water. This is for the morning.

3. Before bed time, follow the same directions as in Steps 1 and 2. Do not rinse off the olive oil this time though, because the skin does most of it's repairing at night.

4. Do this on a daily basis and remember that homemade remedies may take some time to work, so be patient.

5. Another way to use olive oil to remove acne scars is to add it to baking soda to make a facial scrub. In a bowl, add the baking soda and olive oil to make a paste. With clean hands, apply the mixture to the face and scrub for one minute. Rinse off with lukewarm water. Do this two to three times a week to exfoliate the skin and reduce the visibility of acne scars.

Tips & Warnings
•   Never use hot water to wash your face, as it strips the face of it's natural oils. Always wash your hands before you wash your face so that the dirt on your hands does not get on your face.
•   Do not scrub your face too hard when using the baking soda, especially if you have pimples, this will only irritate the skin.
