Zamboanga City Mayor Celso Lobregat has turned over to the Department of Education (DepEd) four infrastructure projects implemented by the city government in two different schools on Saturday.
Assistant Secretary Elena Ruiz and Undersecretary Rizalino Rivera were present during the ceremonial turn over ceremonies of the P18.6 million projects that were part of the city government continuing program to upgrade the
education in the city.
“Our assistance and support to education is unceasing and unrelenting. The city government’s investment in education and other education-related projects will be intensified and further strengthened,†Lobregat declared.
The projects consisted, among others, a library building construction of which cost P1.6 million and a three-storey 12-classroom building with funding worth P13.7 million at the Talon-Talon Elementary School.
Included in the project was the rehabilitation and repair of the Home Economics Building worth P600,000 and the repair and rehabilitation of a two-storey 12-classroom building worth P2.9 million at the Zamboanga West Central School.
The new library building at the Talon-Talon Elementary School replaced the old and dilapidated facility while the three-storey 12-classroom building augmented the existing 21-classroom building. It has become a 33-classroom building.
The symbolic turn over ceremonies were among the activities during the Teacher's Summit held in the city during the weekend.
