Education Secretary Armin Luistro has warned teachers who physically hurt students that cases filed against them would still be pursued by the agency even if parents withdraw the complaint.
"As soon as the complaint is heard, it takes the priority of investigation at 'di kami pumapayag na i-withdraw ang kaso," Luistro told reporters in an interview.
"Hindi kami pumapayag na magkaroon ng negotiations between the parents and the teacher involved," he added.
Luistro said all complaints received by the agency are under the child protection policy which covers measures to prevent abuses in children in schools and provides for processes to be followed when abuses are committed.
The involvement of school personnel in abusing students could result in administrative cases or dismissal from services.
Recently, a Cebu-based math teacher allegedly forced her students to eat paper as punishment for being noisy.
Another teacher from southern Cebu is also in hot water after allegedly slapping her student for not following instructions.
Both cases are already under investigation by the Department of Education (DepEd).
"Kung talagang nangyari 'yan, kelangan maresolve agad kasi mauulit ng mauulit 'yan," Luistro said.
The education chief however said teachers involved in physical abuse of students are assured of due process in hearing their cases.
