Diwa Learning Systems opens this year’s search for young creative writers entitled "Wordworks." WordWorks 2009: The Diwa National Creative Writing Competition aims to nurture young English writers. The competition has two major categories: the Abracadabra Poetry Writing Contest for the grade school level, and the Magica Essay Writing Contest for high school students. With the theme for this year’s creative writing contest is "I Dream of a Better Philippines," contestants must write a poem or essay looking forward to a positive future in anticipation of the 2010 elections. The entries must be original and unpublished works. A letter from the teacher or class adviser must accompany the entry to certify that the works are original. The competition is open to all Diwa’s Scholastic Enhancement Material (SEM) subscribers of "Abracadabra" and "Magica." Three winners will be chosen nationwide and the works will be judged based on creativity, content and poetry or writing mechanics. All entries should be submitted to Diwa Learning Systems, 4/F Sedcco 1 Bldg., 120 Thailand corner Legaspi streets, Legaspi Village, Makati City. Entries may also be submitted via e-mail to
[email protected] or through a Diwa representative servicing the school. Magica is an excellent source for learning English grammar and literary pieces for high school students. Abracadabra is the most widely read English subject magazine for grade school. For details and detailed mechanics about the contest, visit
