PIA conducts ASEAN Campus Forum at Tarlac State University
By Zorayda S. Tecson

CITY OF SAN FERNANDO, Pampanga, March 30 (PNA) -- The Philippine Information Agency (PIA) on Thursday kicked off the ASEAN Campus Forum as part of the continuing effort to create awareness on the significance of the regional community.

The activity was conducted at Tarlac State University where hundreds of students attended the first ASEAN campus forum in Central Luzon.

PIA regional director William Beltran said the campus forum aims to educate the youth on the relevance of ASEAN, its effects and impacts.

"We want to raise awareness of the people. We want Filipinos to embrace ASEAN as our extended community. A community that provides a peaceful and decent life," he said.

He likewise cited the youth as effective multipliers who can efficiently disseminate information and knowledge about ASEAN.

"Youth are effective multipliers. You are in the best position to make an advocacy work," Beltran told the students.

Meanwhile, officials from the Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA) and the Department of Trade and Industry discussed during the forum the economic community pillar of the ASEAN wherein the economic regional integration offers new opportunities in the form of a huge market of USD2.6 trillion and over 622 million people.

"ASEAN is the 7th largest economy in the world and will be the 4th largest by 2050," Alfred Kristoffer Guiang of the DFA said.

Justine Santos of DTI, on the other hand, said that ASEAN has a gross domestic product of USD2.57 trillion with USD2.53 trillion trade with the world.

The PIA will also conduct ASEAN campus forum at the Central Luzon State University, Aurora State College of Technology, Bataan Peninsula State University, and Ramon Magsaysay Technological University. (PNA)

John 3:16-18 ESV
For God so loved the world, that he gave his only Son (Jesus Christ), that whoever believes in him should not perish but have eternal life. For God did not send his Son into the world to condemn the world, but in order that the world might be saved through him. Whoever believes in him is not condemned, but whoever does not believe is condemned already, because he has not believed in the name of the only Son of God.
