Doctor of Veterinary Medicine from Valencia, Bohol
« on: August 20, 2007, 12:17:18 AM »
Among the 225 successful examinees of the recent licensure examinations for Doctors of Veterinary Medicine, given by the Professional Regulations Commission, is a pure Bol-anon and a native of Valencia town.

Dr. Rodney Marante y Pagaran was born in Poblacion Occidental, Valencia, Bohol, and spent his elementary and high school days here in Tagbilaran City.

After six years of studies at University of the Philippines at Los Baños (UPLB), the new doctor took the government’s licensure examinations for Veterinarians last Aug. 1-3, 2007 in Manila. Only 225 passed the said exams out of the 637 examinees. Out of the 50 fresh graduates from UPLB, 46 passed the board exams, for the school’s 92 percent passing rate.

Dr. Marante spent his elementary days at the Holy Spirit School and attended high school at the Central Visayas State College of Agriculture, Fisheries and Technology (CVSCAFT). While in high school, he, along with elder brother Jay Warren, were mainstays of the famous CVSCAFT drum and bugle corps.

Dr. Rodney P. Marante is the youngest of the two boys of the two boys of Nathaniel Marante of Poblacion Occidental, Valencia, and Elizabeth Pagaran-Marante, of Tabuan, Garcia-Hernandez. Elder brother Jay Warren is also an alumnus of UPLB, finishing BS in Applied Physics in 2005, and is now working as a Design Engineer in Bitmicro Networks International, a company pioneering in producing computer softwares and hardwares. doc rpm!  you must be the vet this thread speaks about!  nice to have a vet right in this forum.

funny, wherever i go, i get to know and meet vets, of different nationalities at that; filipinos (but of course; in manila and cebu), iranian, chinese, australian, romanian, czech.

why do i have to tell this?  because i salute the chinese lady vet the most. she healed every single sick cat that i brought to her, even those that i've given up on, including two cats who accidentally swallowed poison.

the romanian vets are the most empathetic.  i like them at their feeling level, with their understanding that sometimes, pet owners can be more rabid than their pets.  once, when i brought a kitten with a broken spine and the gentleman vet insisted that it had to be put down and i shamelessly bawled right there and then, i ended up receiving an email of apologies from him that very evening.  it was nice of him to bother.

my favorite vets in manila are the bolo couple.  the name must be familiar to you because they're officers of the national vet association.  and there's dr sandiego and a very young lady vet named joy in cebu.  there are vets i'd rather avoid; understandably i'm not naming them here.

look here now, even in this forum, there's a vet, a boholano and a valencianhon at that.  how nice.

in this forum, we refer to doc lorenzo for human health advice.  now there's you for animal health advice.  please?

Yes, I am related to whom you refer as Empay Salise; she is actually my grand-aunt as she is the first degree cousin of my grandfather, Mr. Casiano Salise Salvo. The Salise Clan in Barangay Anas and Barangay Manga are all of my distant relatives through my maternal grandfather.

To answer your question: my grandparents are Mr. Casiano Salise  Salvo Sr. and Mrs. Fortunata Tan Salvo (of Valencia, Bohol). My parents are Engr. Rico Lucino (of Tagbilaran) and Mrs. Liza Salvo Lucino (of Valencia).
