National Electrification Administrator (NEA) Edita Bueno recently installed the signage of excellent performance on Bohol I Electric Cooperative based in Macaas, Tubigon town.
The signage lavished superlatives on Boheco I: NEA proclaimed it as a seven-star luminary electric cooperative, a grand hall of fame awardee and "Rated A" cooperative for its outstanding performance in 2007, with Fr. Francisco Silva, President Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo's consultant on electric cooperatives and Energy Secretary Angelo Reyes, chair of the NEA board of administrators as signatories.
The installation highlighted Boheco I's 37th anniversary celebration.
Gov. Erico Aumentado congratulated the cooperative, its manager, Engr. Carlos Itable and Chairman of the Board Jeremias Boligao for their A-1 performance. He said the recognition is the fruit of their collective pro-active efforts that have benefited the member-consumers.
He noted that Boheco I has only a 6.3 percent systems loss - lesser than Manila Electric Co.'s (Meralco) 9.5 percent as Bueno revealed.
Under a big brother-small brother scheme, Itable was also able to turn Boheco II's performance into similarly outstanding, he added. Boheco I serves Bohol's western towns while Boheco II serves the eastern half.
Meanwhile, Aumentado's announcement that the National Economic and Development Authority's Investment Coordination Committee Technical Board (Neda-ICC TB) has approved the P1.6-billion Bohol Backbone Transmission Project met a hearty
The project of the National Transmission Co. (TransCo) will make power in Bohol more dependable and efficient. It will entail the expansion of the sub-station in Ubay town, and the installation of overhead high-tension steel towers from Ubay to Corella town.
The towers mean less trip-offs that cause power outages as the towers will be higher than coconut palms, trees and other structures, making it less vulnerable to falling fronds, branches or debris, he explained.
He also congratulated Itable for bagging a gold medal for topping their recently concluded competency-based training program. He was the unanimous choice of his instructors and peers alike.
For her part, Bueno said Boheco I may have been through humps and bumps but the 67 awards it has earned - the latest being the mega seven-star award, the highest that NEA gives - prove that its management, staff, rank and file, the board of directors and members are one in striving for a goal that would benefit everyone.
She cited the cooperative for being first in the effort to energize the sitios after energizing all barangays including the islands
By tapping hydroelectric power, Boheco I also gets carbon credits for using "green gas" that also redounds to the good of the consumers.
