Smuggled Cars in Davao City
« on: June 25, 2009, 08:24:19 PM »
A government campaign to stop the smuggling of cars has shifted to Mindanao following the seizure last week of at least P1 billion worth of used vehicles that authorities said were brought into the country without taxes.

Mohammad Aquia, special operations chief of the Presidential Anti-Smuggling Group (PASG) in Mindanao, said the agency was stepping up its campaign against the entry of smuggled cars into Mindanao that went on possibly with the help of used car dealers, mostly Koreans.

Aquia said PASG has been receiving reports about rampant smuggling of cars and other vehicles into Mindanao.

The intensified campaign against car smuggling, he said, was launched after PASG agents seized at least P1 billion worth of vehicles from an imported car dealer in Davao City. The vehicles were suspected to be smuggled.

Aquia identified the car dealer as P.K. Industries and Trading Inc., based in the village of Lanang in Davao City. It was Aquia who said the firm was suspected of involvement in the smuggling of cars. - Inquirer.net

John 3:16-18 ESV
For God so loved the world, that he gave his only Son (Jesus Christ), that whoever believes in him should not perish but have eternal life. For God did not send his Son into the world to condemn the world, but in order that the world might be saved through him. Whoever believes in him is not condemned, but whoever does not believe is condemned already, because he has not believed in the name of the only Son of God.

Smuggling is still widespread in the country. Losses in taxes is so meager compared to corruption.

Ok lang ang mga small scale smuggling kay naginabuhi ang tawo.

Dili na mawala ang corruption sa mga Pinoy. Its a part of our lives.

Because we made it a part of our lives.  If we continue on believing that corruption is a part of our lives, then we shouldn't grumble so much if we have corrupt government.  We the people allowed it to happen at the very start of their political careers.  We, the people are the suspects and the victims of all these.  And the sad part is that most of us are already resigned to the fact that it's already a part of our lives, instead of making a difference to eradicate this political ills in our country.  Others justify that rampant corruption is everywhere, all over the world since time immemorial.  Then, we are making excuses that we can be part of a corrupt nation because others are corrupt too.  It's a cycle.  A vicious cycle.  And yes, we are the suspects and the victims of 'em all!

Corruption starts in childhood, makat'unan sa mga bata gikan sa mga hamtung na ang panuigon,

Scene 1: Nangawat ug itlog sa manok si Pedro, nakit-an ni kulas [7 years old].

he hehe simple kaayo ang equation sa corruption no?

Finally, my brethren, be strong in the Lord, and in the power of his might. Put on the whole armour of God, that ye may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil. For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against priincipalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places. Ephes. 6:10-12

i dont know how corruption got into the picture but this is importing surplus cars to the Phils. the only thing that makes this kinda illegal is that the dealers don't pay taxes to the govt. in a sense it is not really smuggling since the surplus cars were paid and transported with complete documentation.

this practice has been going on for at least 8 years in Subic/Olongapo areas; same procedure and was accepted by the dealers and the common ppol who bought these cars/SUV for really cheap prices...SUVs like Pajero or Isuzu Trooper costs from 100k-400k php only whereas if you buy from a registered car dealer could cost more than a million pesos each car.

nag strikto lng cla sa Subic for the past 3 years and forced dealers to pay taxes to the govt, that's why they're moving the port of entry to mindanao.

another similar import is used computer products, CPU, printers, hard drives, monitors, etc...these are used items and typically dealers dont pay taxes and so far, govt has not restricted entries of these products....maybe soon and then we have to pay more money  :-[...
