« on: October 17, 2008, 03:00:19 AM »
Defying rising fuel prices, increasing cost of raw materials and the threat of recession, Columbian Autocar Corporation (CAC), manufacturer and distributor of Kia in the Philippines, chalked up an impressive 75% sales growth for the first half of 2008, the highest in the industry, and lay claim to being the fastest growing automotive brand in the country today.

Figures bared by CAC showed that Kia vehicle sales grew by 75% from January to June based on comparative 2007 vs. 2008 figures culled from the latest Chamber of Automotive Manufacturers of the Phils., Inc. (CAMPI) report. Kia was followed by Nissan which posted a 60% growth and General Motors at 36%, completing the top three. Hyundai took the fourth spot with 33%, tailed by Mitsubishi at 22%, Isuzu 16%, Suzuki 13%, Ford 10% Toyota 7% and Mazda 2%.
