The National Capital Region Police Office (NCRPO) Friday announced major accomplishment in its intensified campaign against carnapping syndicates and group and individuals engaged in falsifying Land Transportation Office (LTO) documents to register stolen vehicles.
Chief Supt. Roberto Rosales, NCRPO director, said only last Wednesday joint elements of the NCRPO Regional Traffic Enforcement and Anti-Carnapping Unit (RTEU–ANCAR) and Talipapa Police Station of the Quezon City Police District (PS3-QCPD) launched successful raid against a suspected den of a group engaged in falsifying LTO documents.
Armed with a Search Warrant issued by Judge Edgar D. Dantos, Quezon City RTC Branch 222, the police operatives raided the house of a certain Dante Chua located at No. 356 Vipra St., Brgy. Sangandaan near Quirino Avenue, Quezon City and seized various items used in the illegal activity.
Confiscated were seven motorcycles without LTO records, three pairs blank LTO Certificate of Registration (CR), four pieces LTO Official Receipts, one unit Colt Super 38 Automatic with serial Nos. 082159, one unit Taurus 357 Magnum with serial Nos. QC505417, two magazines for Colt Super 38, and 30 pieces live ammunition for Colt 38.
The service of the Search Warrant was conducted in an orderly manner in the presence of a certain James Chan, 27 years old, a resident of the same address and nephew of Dante Chua.
Chan also voluntarily turned-over several motor vehicles, suspected to be “hot cars†to the RTEU-ANCAR after he failed to present the necessary documents/proof of ownership of the said vehicles.
Surrendered were one unit Ford 150, dark green with plate number WJC-179, a Mitsubishi Canter Truck Van with plate No. ZKK-586, and a Honda CRV, metallic gold with plate No. XLF-782.
Appropriate cases for Violation of the Anti-Carnapping Law (RA No. 6539) and Article 172, paragraph 1 in relation to Article 171, paragraphs 2, 4 and 7 of the Revised Penal Code (Falsification of Public Documents) will be filed against the suspect Dante Chua.
Earlier, the NCRPO also arrested three LTO employees engaged in falsifying LTO documents and licensed plates. (PNA)
