By Ma. Cristina C. Arayata

MANILA, Dec. 6 (PNA) -- Did you miss watching your favorite Koreanovela because of the heavy traffic? Are you too excited to see the first few episodes of an upcoming Korean drama series which will be aired soon in the Philippines?

With Viu app, one can view the latest premium Korean contents as fast as eight hours after telecast in Korea. All that one needs to do is download the app via Apple Store or Google Play for free, and watch the shows anytime, anywhere.

Filipinos can also visit viu.com to watch online.

Launched recently in the Philippines, Viu app serves as a video content platform offering popular Korean dramas, variety shows and other Asian premium content.

It has partnered with Korean broadcasters SBS, KBS, CJ E&M and MBC for the contents.

This app has a catalogue of almost 10,000 content hours, with 4,000 hours of the newest simulcast Korean dramas and variety shows with English subtitles. These shows include Descendants of the Sun, Love in the Moonlight, Weightlifting Fairy Kim Bok-Joo, variety shows Return of Superman, Running Man, Kpop music programs Music Bank, Inkigayo – The Music Trend, among others.

Moreover, the app features Fanbites, which showcases facts and anecdotes on Korean culture.

First in the Philippine market

Viu is said to be the first service in the Philippine market which offers downloading of authorized Korean contents to mobile devices for free.

According to Viu representative Janice Lee, 77 percent of viewers they surveyed in the Philippines watch Korean dramas on a regular basis.

”With the increasing broadband adoption and increasing penetration of smartphones, we see a great potential in the Philippines as a market where online video (viewing) is fast becoming a part of daily habit of Filipino internet users,” she remarked.

Based on the Nielsen Global Video On Demand (VOD) survey, on the other hand, 45 percent of online consumers in the country watch VOD once a day, while 82 percent of online consumers said they would like to catch up on multiple episodes in a day. (PNA)

John 3:16-18 ESV
For God so loved the world, that he gave his only Son (Jesus Christ), that whoever believes in him should not perish but have eternal life. For God did not send his Son into the world to condemn the world, but in order that the world might be saved through him. Whoever believes in him is not condemned, but whoever does not believe is condemned already, because he has not believed in the name of the only Son of God.
