The Sangguniang Panlalawigan of Bohol has planned of filing injunction case in court to block the imposition of electric rates increase sought by the Bohol Light Company, Inc. (BLCI).
Vice-Gov. Julius Caesar Herrera, who presided over the 11th regular session of the SP yesterday, proposed the filing of said court action approved by the body as a concrete action to respond to the growing complaints against the increase.
This came after provincial board member Alfonso Damalerio II said that BLCI will implement this week the 25 centavos per kilowatt-hour increase of power rates per information he got from BLCI manager Engr. Noel Alingig.
Damalerio called Monday a meeting of his committee attended by Alingig to tackle the increase of power rates.
Herrera instantly formed an interim committee and appointed Board Member Aster Piollo as chairperson with a blanket authority to select her members. Herrera said the task of committee is to explore possibilities to file court injunction that could virtually prevent BLCI or ERC to implement the said increase.
Aside from this, the lawmakers approved Damalerio's proposed Resolution urging the Energy Regulatory Commission (ERC) to hold the third and final public hearing in this city instead in Manila scheduled next month on said increase of power rates.
Public utilities committee chaired by Damalerio was visibly irked when his committee seemed shortchanged when ERC hold the second public hearing on September 7, 2007 in the morning instead of 2 PM on the same day as posted on its website.
