Provincial Police Director Ingking wants to organize SWAT

CONFRONTED with the usually “after election rising trend in crimes,” PSSupt Edgardo Ingking grew even more insistent in pressing his bid to create a special response team in the police Special Weapons and Tactics (SWAT).

The move to train, organize and equip a local SWAT has been officially requested by the Regional Development Council (RDC) during its March 2007 full council meeting, RDC sources said.

Speaking during the Provincial Peace and Order Council Press Conference after its fact finding team’s data presentation over the death of a Bayan Muna leader Mario Auxilio here, Pssupt Ingking said a SWAT team comes in handy when confronted with a similar situation especially when an armed criminal is on the loose.

Ingking faced the local media who also wanted his comment of the rise of crimes in Bohol.

The plan for Bohol to have a SWAT got its initial public disclosure when former Police Provincial commander Arturo Evangelista asked for it. Hr however failed to follow it through.

During the March 2007 Regional Development Council, Presidential adviser Felix Guanzon aired the request of the Philippine National Police for the RDC to ask Bohol to organize, train, equip and fund a SWAT in Bohol.

The PNP request was based on the recorded substantial increase in foreign and domestic tourists here, and all the more needing strengthened security measures to ensure the growth of tourism. The police also believed that a single hostage situation, terrorist action and unchecked crime increase can set back the pace of the peace and order.

PNP 7 Regional Director PCSupt. Silverio D. Alarcio has also expressed concern that Bohol does not have a special police unit, which has the capacity to respond to specific situations.

In region 7, only the cities of Cebu, Mandaue, Lapulapu and Cebu Province have SWAT units, sources at the Provincial Police Office bare.

“While these organized SWAT units may be tapped during the occurrence of crisis in other provinces in the region, it may take some time before they could be assembled to respond and resolve the crisis considering the distance” Bohol police have said.

Camp Dagohoy is also expected to have prepared the necessary paper works and budget for the team’s activation and for the province to consider. (rachiu/PIA)

SWAT did I hear Inking say he needs a swat on his rear to treat the team right?
It sounds boring to me a SWAT?
Sounds like the steer needs to be pulled by the horns and other places to get the rest of the things running smoothly in the pastures instead of his being the only one always greener then his other coworkers.
I can not imagine a SWAT team here in the province?
NOT!
