A village chairman has been shot and killed by a motorcycle-riding gunman in Ubay town, Bohol.

The victim, identified as Ramon Autid, 30, chairman of Camili-an village, Ubay, was riding a motorcycle along the national highway in the village of Lumangog, also in Ubay, when one of two motorcycle riders shot him at 2 p.m. Sunday.

Autida, hit in the neck, fell off his motorcycle.

Ronald Autida, the victim's brother, who was following the victim aboard his tricycle, said in a radio interview the assailants returned and shot his brother again, hitting him on the head.

Ronald said the gunman told him to leave the area as he had nothing to do with the shooting.

He said the gunman also said the victim committed a grave offense against them.

Ronald said his brother just came from a political meeting with his leaders and supporters in the village of Camili-an that ended past noon Sunday. He said that he and his brother were on their way to San Pascual village to fetch his brother's wife when he was killed.

Investigators were looking into the motives for the killing, Superintendent Eduardo Saavedra, Ubay police chief, told in a separate radio interview.
