Aris: NIA issues NTP to start
Bohol northeast basin study

By JUNE S. BLANCO

AN ESTIMATED 19,000 hectares of agricultural land in four Bohol towns stand to be irrigated when the biggest dam in the Visayas region becomes operational.
This after the National Irrigation Administration (NIA) issued a notice to proceed (NTP) to the contractor that will conduct the feasibility study.
To note, NIA had released P10 million upon the representation of Bohol’s 2nd District Rep. Erico Aristotle Aumentado as he followed up the brainchild of his namesake father, the late solon Erico Boyles Aumentado.
The father had envisioned the Bohol Northeast Basin Multipurpose Irrigation System to cover all the irrigable areas of Bien Unido, 80% of the irrigable lands in Trinidad and portions of Ubay and San Miguel towns.
The younger Aumentado said the P10 million is from NIA corporate funds for the feasibility study. Another P70 million in the 2015 General Appropriations Act (GAA) is allocated for the completion of the feasibility study.
Aumentado earlier met with NIA officials in Manila for the nitty-gritty for the immediate release of the P10 million.
To note, his father had broached the project with five components, namely – irrigation, potable water system for far-flung barangays, tourism, hydroelectric power of up to 10 megawatts and flood control – to NIA.
The system is a spinoff of a similar project in South Korea that the father-and-son tandem had visited. The father is known by the Koreans as a visionary leader who works very much ahead for solutions and nip problems in the bud.
When completed, the son said, the multi-faceted project will make the 2nd district a new tourism destination with many must-sees including the Danao Adventure Park and the underwater grotto in Bien Unido.

John 3:16-18 ESV
For God so loved the world, that he gave his only Son (Jesus Christ), that whoever believes in him should not perish but have eternal life. For God did not send his Son into the world to condemn the world, but in order that the world might be saved through him. Whoever believes in him is not condemned, but whoever does not believe is condemned already, because he has not believed in the name of the only Son of God.
