Warning out on holding Yuletide fireworks display
Published: December 24, 2006 by The Bohol Standard

In what was suppose to be a beautiful night attraction in the celebration mood of Christmas last week at a residence in Poblacion, one Alejandro Canino, 60 years old of barangay Villarcayo had his head almost blown-out by a missile firework that had miss fired into the crowd.

The missile was part of a firework display that was supposed to go straight up into the sky where it should burst into a colorful display of lights.

The freak accident left a bad burn on the victim’s forehead.

Authorities have warned to observe utmost safety in handling fireworks displays.

All pyrotechnics products are required by law to have caution labels attached to its box or package with instruction how to handle properly these products.

Firework vendors are also required to secure the necessary permits from local government in places where they sell these products. Those purchased illegally usually are dangerous since they did not pass government regulations.

Firework displays should also be supervised by a professional pyro technician who are trained and qualified to handle dangerous explosives. Shells/missiles made from firework manufacturers that give out a colorful and spectacular display for all to enjoy when lighting up the skies at night are equally dangerous if mishandled.

Study say that these fireworks are highly dangerous as millions of people each year are hospitalized for serious and different degrees of burns that could have been avoided if the warning labels on the package were being followed.

Improper handling or standing way too close from where the missiles are being fired from is an accident waiting to happen.

Safety requirements require that fireworks should not be let off with out warning in crowds such as in downtown city areas.

The Bureau of Fire Protection also warns that such firework display could start a fire that may cause the loss of lives, homes and properties.

John 3:16-18 ESV
For God so loved the world, that he gave his only Son (Jesus Christ), that whoever believes in him should not perish but have eternal life. For God did not send his Son into the world to condemn the world, but in order that the world might be saved through him. Whoever believes in him is not condemned, but whoever does not believe is condemned already, because he has not believed in the name of the only Son of God.
