Governor Aumentado explains frequent travel ‘outside’ Bohol

Will Gov. Erico Aumentado be staying longer in Bohol after the failed people’s initiative which he strongly supported?

The governor gamely answered the question posed by DyRD Pulso commentator Batchoy Alba after his return from a weeklong trip to China with Pres. Arroyo.

“Makalaom ang atong mga igsoon Bol-anon nga bisan tua kita sa Manila, kanunay kita nagpahaluna sa mga kaayohan alang sa atong lalawigang Bol-anon (while we are in Manila, putting the welfare of our people always come as our priority),” he said.

“Labaw sa tanan, duna tay gipangsaligan nga mga ponoan sa lalawigan nga mag-atiman sa inadlaw (day-to-day affair) ug mga kalihokan dinhi. Kon wala ako, aduna gayoy morepresentar kanako nga magadala sa akong tingog (In my absence, I also ensure that I am represented by provincial officials that would carry my voice),” the governor added.

Aumentado, now on his second term, is visibly seen in the company of top national officials as he heads the League of Provinces of the Philippines. He also chairs the strong representation of the Union of Local Authorities of the Philippines. In his capacity as LPP president and chairman of ULAP, he sits as member of Pres. Arroyo’s Legislative and Executive Development Advisory Council (LEDAC), and represents the league in the board of the National Economic and Development Authority and the National Anti-Poverty Commission (NAPC).

“Pagkatinood, dili mang lugwa ning mga dagkong proyekto dinhi sa Bohol kon dili pa ta dool sa kusina didto sa Manila. Mga kuarta gikan sa Malacañang ug sa Department of Budget and Management, dili moabot sa ato kon maghuwat lang ta (if not of the good relations we have of those powers in Manila, funds from Malacañang and DBM won’t come to us that easy),” the governor said.

He likens officials who just sit and wait, to Juan Tapulan, who lazily waited under a guava tree for the fruit to fall into his mouth.

Upon his arrival Wednesday, he immediately made his usual provincial rounds and visited the towns of Valencia, Batuan, Sevilla and Ubay.

The governor made clear that he welcomes criticism being part and hazard of those in public service. He said he understand the role of media being a former hard-hitting journalist himself.

John 3:16-18 ESV
For God so loved the world, that he gave his only Son (Jesus Christ), that whoever believes in him should not perish but have eternal life. For God did not send his Son into the world to condemn the world, but in order that the world might be saved through him. Whoever believes in him is not condemned, but whoever does not believe is condemned already, because he has not believed in the name of the only Son of God.
