Gusto ko ma A, I have to buckle down and really work hard on this next paper due this Wednesday. Ampo pod ko that I can score okay.

I'll make a special prayer for your friend who is in the hospital.

Dear Jesus, Divine Physician and Healer of the Sick, we turn to You in this time of illness. O dearest Comforter of the Troubled, alleviate our worry and sorrow with Your gentle love, and grant us the grace and strength to accept this burden. Dear God, we place our worries in Your hands. We ask that You restore Your servant to health again. Above all, grant us the grace to acknowledge Your holy will and know that whatsoever You do, You do for the love of us.

Amen.

This Saturday I spent the day hanging out with my two buddies, Roger and Georgi, downtown Chicago. We walked around Millenium Park, Buckingham Fountain and made our way to Navy Pier to see some good ol' fashioned Labor Day Weekend Fireworks. The last fireworks of the summer.

Let's get wet...in Millennium Park !  8)

Just 1 block away from the Bean, there are two towers that spring forth water. It's a great way for people who have been walking around to get cool and just walk with their bare feet.

This Sunday, Georgi and I went to Ikea to shop for a new bed and new materials. Georgi is a an old college friend and recently moved to Chicago to start (this Fall 2013) in the University of Chicago's School of Business for his M.B.A. It was good to hang out with Georgi , and talking about our 5 year plans. We're both starting fresh. Was able to tell him of my recent break up with my ex-gf, and he also told me that he broke up with his gf as well prior to moving to Chicago.

At age 28, I reminded him that we're still young and priority now is not on women. No offense to women, but prioritize one's professional goals first. And that's the truth. I can tell that he's still hurting over their break up, I understand how that felt...very well.

I told him, "When you finish your M.B.A, when doors open up for you, you shall find a woman that will complement you, not one who will complicate your life."

It was good to hear his advice to me about moving forward , this makes it worth the while especially when it comes from an old college buddy.

Its amazing how much we've both grown since we were still freshmen in college. We reminisced about how it was 9 years ago when we started freshman in college. Now we're late 20s professionals.

Time. It passes so darn fast. ::)

I'm heading out to Barnes & Nobles Bookstore to do some reading on necessary medical files. Labor Day Weekend was nice and all, but I need to prep up for another week of work and reviews.

Plus, I need to finish some paper for my current doctoral class.

In the name of our Lord Jesus Christ I will begin this day. I thank you, Lord, for having preserved me during the night. I will do my best to make all I do today pleasing to You and in accordance with Your will. My dear mother Mary, watch over me this day. My Guardian Angel, take care of me. St. Joseph and all you saints of God, pray for me.

I ask this through our Lord Jesus Christ. Amen.

Today I got to debride a patient with necrotizing fascitis. The bacteria , streptococcus pyogenes (which is a gram positive, catalase positive, complete homolytic, group A strep) had infected through the patient's dermis layer, and into the fascia. We had to go in and completely debride the entire skin layer of her lower leg.

We put the patient on iv ampicillin. I was so happy that i got to debride the patient. This is a case we only get to see on the books, but to be able to actually treat it...ehehehe! Wowzers! ;D

Anyways, so far, my day is good. Its 2:48 pm. Am on break.

some peace during the night. its 3:13 am. this is what we call 'post-admission' hours. as in most patients are in bed and sleeping (some are sedated) lol ! mao ni ang time'a ang mga nurses mo duwaduwa sa ilang iphones, mag sulatsulat sa facebook, and chit chatting. earlier, i was making rounds to check up on my patients. one of the head nurses said to me, "why so serious, doc? aren't you happy everything is quiet?"

ning ngisi ra ko. silly lady. doesn't she know that a code blue could occur anytime?

there is never a true 'peaceful' time in the hospital. like a marine, a physician (and nurse) should always be alert. ready. prepared. for the next admission.

but alas, it's all quiet here. in the western front.

:P  ;D

i might go and join the nurses later. to chit and chat.

Today, I consider the words of St. Francis De Sales as I begin another morning.

May God's Love be made manifest in each and everyone of us as we live out our actions and words today.

Whatsoever happens, never let go; hold steadfastly to God, in peace, trusting His Everlasting Love for you.

- St. Francis de Sales
