PEZA OKs tax perks for Canadian IT firmMANILA, June 1 (PNA) -- The Philippine Economic Zone Authority has registered the expansion of Canadian information technology firm 24-7 Intouch in the country.
In a statement Wednesday, the investment promotion agency said PEZA Director General Lilia B. de Lima has awarded the certificate of registration to 24-7 Intouch PH which allow the company to enjoy fiscal and non-fiscal incentives as an IT enterprise under PEZA.
The PEZA-registration was received by 24-7 Intouch Head of International Operations Antonio Bruno.
According to PEZA, 24-7 Intouch will be engaged in inbound and outbound voice and non-voice enabled services such as contact center, business processing, software development, data transcription, information processing center, and IT support center.
It will be operating at the 39th floor, Union Bank Plaza in Ortigas.
The Canada-based IT firm mentioned on its website that its facility in the Philippines will be 40,000 square feet.
24-7 Intouch’s Manila office will also be the company’s 12th contact center facility. Other facilities are located in Canada, United States, Guatemala, and India.
In a previous interview, de Lima said there has been notable investment pledges in IT parks and centers in PEZA in the first four months of the year.
The IT parks and centers projects are driven by strong demand for office spaces in the IT and business process outsourcing (BPO) companies like 24-7 Intouch.
Investment pledges of IT firms in PEZA at end-April surged by 129 percent to PHP8.99 billion from PHP3.92 billion in the same period in 2015.
Direct employment in PEZA created by investments in IT sector also increased by 12 percent to 581,565 this year sharing 46 percent of the total jobs in PEZA economic zones. (PNA)
