MANILA, June 1 (PNA) -- Airport authorities on Wednesday clarified that there is no experimentation being done on airport security procedures at the Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA).
The Office for Transport Security (OTS) made the statement following media reports that there is a new rule is being tested by airport screeners in efforts to intercept bullet-planting incidents.
OTS is the primary agency responsible for the implementation of security screening procedures in airports nationwide.
“Passengers are reminded that screening procedures at the NAIA remain the same and that no experimentation is being conducted by the OTS,†the agency said.
“The OTS clarifies that it has not issued any policy recently regarding this matter,†it further noted.
Passengers aware meanwhile encouraged to make use of the Last Look/Check Booths located in all four terminals of the NAIA.
Last Look/Check booths look similar to confessional boxes in Catholic churches. There is enough room for passengers to inspect their luggage and dispose prohibited items in waste bins.
To avoid confusion among passengers, there are also reminders of the list of prohibited items in English.
The Philippine National Police-Aviation Security Group continues to monitor bullet-planting cases.
At present, a no-touch policy is also being implemented to protect the rights of both passengers and screeners. (PNA)
