 prayer for mothers, fathers, and friends!

We are Mary’s hands in the world today. We must bring her gentle touch, her help, her protection, her mantle of love. And if we are Mary’s hands it is because she taught us through someone else. Mary taught us how to be gentle, helpful, protecting, and loving through mothers, fathers, and dear friends. No matter who it was, they taught us to be Mary’s hands in the world today.

Spring is a time to thank others for our life and the many lessons that they taught us. Spring is also a time of new beginnings – new endeavors to pray for those who are in need or are hurting. I invite you to give all of them a special gift.

You can show them that you haven’t forgotten. You can show them that you cherish them. You can show them that you lit a special votive light, to Mary, Virgin all powerful, just for them and their intentions at the Shrine of the Miraculous Medal.

Mary needs you to be her hands of thanks giving and help to all in need.

Internalization:


Since God could speak into existence the universe, and since God knows our names and the number of the hairs on our head ... surely we know that we can go to him for our help. Let's lift up our eyes and our hearts to El Shaddai, Lord God of the Mountains, and know the Almighty sees our needs, hears our requests, and cares about our hearts.

Reading for the day


Stephen, filled with grace and power,
was working great wonders and signs among the people.
Certain members of the so-called Synagogue of Freedmen,
Cyreneans, and Alexandrians,
and people from Cilicia and Asia,
came forward and debated with Stephen,
but they could not withstand the wisdom and the Spirit with which he spoke.
Then they instigated some men to say,
"We have heard him speaking blasphemous words
against Moses and God."
They stirred up the people, the elders, and the scribes,
accosted him, seized him,
and brought him before the Sanhedrin.
They presented false witnesses who testified,
"This man never stops saying things against this holy place and the law.
For we have heard him claim
that this Jesus the Nazorean will destroy this place
and change the customs that Moses handed down to us."
All those who sat in the Sanhedrin looked intently at him
and saw that his face was like the face of an angel.

Gospel Reading of day

After Jesus had fed the five thousand men, his disciples saw him walking on the sea.
The next day, the crowd that remained across the sea
saw that there had been only one boat there,
and that Jesus had not gone along with his disciples in the boat,
but only his disciples had left.
Other boats came from Tiberias
near the place where they had eaten the bread
when the Lord gave thanks.
When the crowd saw that neither Jesus nor his disciples were there,
they themselves got into boats
and came to Capernaum looking for Jesus.
And when they found him across the sea they said to him,
"Rabbi, when did you get here?"
Jesus answered them and said,
"Amen, amen, I say to you, you are looking for me
not because you saw signs
but because you ate the loaves and were filled.
Do not work for food that perishes
but for the food that endures for eternal life,
which the Son of Man will give you.
For on him the Father, God, has set his seal."
So they said to him,
"What can we do to accomplish the works of God?"
Jesus answered and said to them,
"This is the work of God, that you believe in the one he sent."

The beauty of this said verse proclaims the Blessed Grace of Christ Jesus. The thousands of and women that seeked for Jesus were not content and wanted to see Him again. Called by the Spirit, they got on the boats to see The Christ. To Capernaum. They asked him beautifully, "Rabbi, when did you get here?"

Christ Our Lord replied, "Amen, amen, I say to you, you are looking for me
not because you saw signs
but because you ate the loaves and were filled.
Do not work for food that perishes
but for the food that endures for eternal life,
which the Son of Man will give you.
For on him the Father, God, has set his seal."

This is proof for me, of the Bread and Body of Christ, which is offered to us, daily in The Mass. So wonderful to read this verse. :)

When they heard this, they were infuriated,
and they ground their teeth at him.
But Stephen, filled with the Holy Spirit,

and Jesus standing at the right hand of God,
and Stephen said, "Behold, I see the heavens opened
and the Son of Man standing at the right hand of God."
But they cried out in a loud voice,
covered their ears, and rushed upon him together.
They threw him out of the city, and began to stone him.
The witnesses laid down their cloaks
at the feet of a young man named Saul.

"Lord Jesus, receive my spirit."
Then he fell to his knees and cried out in a loud voice,
"Lord, do not hold this sin against them";
and when he said this, he fell asleep.

Now Saul was consenting to his execution.

Nothing in this world is achieved by the work of man alone. Success and ability comes not from yourself, but by the Grace of the Lord, who has given you the ability to achieve. And the glory, the honor and praise does not belong to us, but to The Lord.

We are dust. From slave and pauper to the mightiest King and Emperor. We are dust. From dust we came, and dust we shall return.

We must remember that man does not live by bread alone. But by every word that comes from the mouth of the Lord Most High.

Thoughts on Today's Verse...
When people genuinely worship, when they fast and seek God's will, he calls them to service and mission. Christian worship is not an end in itself, but a launching pad to Christian mission. We shouldn't get so caught up in the worship experience that we leave it at the door when we walk away. Instead, we must understand that our "private" or church worship is to inspire us to public worship and service in the world during our everyday lives (cf. Rom. 12:1-2). As we worship with our brothers and sisters, we should also listen to the words to the songs, the message of the Scriptures, and the conviction of the Holy Spirit on our hearts. God is calling each of us to a special mission in our world!
My Prayer...
Father, please help me clearly discern your will and follow your leading while I am worshiping you throughout each day. In Jesus' name I pray. Amen.

Personal Thoughts
Two things I trust implicitly: 1) God's power and might, and 2) my joy at getting to share in his presence. My best efforts will always fall short, but God's grace is greater and more glorious than my best efforts!

Contemplative Thought

Falsely imprisoned, Paul and Silas had been beaten "with many blows," placed in prison, and locked down in stocks. Under such horrible circumstances, they managed to praise God in hymns and pray to their Father in Heaven. Under this kind of pressure, their faith caught the attention of the other prisoners who listened to them. We need to be reminded that over the years of Christian witness, some of the most effective times of evangelism happened because Christians remained faithful and joyous people despite persecution and harassment. Nothing should limit our prayer and praise. God will use them to reach the hearts of those in the most difficult of places!

I will quit living as if the purpose of life is to arrive safely at death.
I will quit focusing on self-preservation and be willing to take risks.
I will quit trying to be who I am not and start being myself.
I will quit holding out or holding back.
I will quit running away.
I will burn sinful bridges and blaze new trails.
I will not let what's wrong with me keep me from worshipping what's right with God.
I will go after the dream He's given me that's "God-sized" enough to fail without Him.
I will stop complaining and find creative ways to be part of the solution.
I will step out of my comfort zone and value every experience — even the difficult ones.
I will worry less about what people think and more about what God thinks.
I will follow Him wherever He leads me.
