Sunday Post:
Local officials here led by Mayor Alvin Uy and the general manager of BRAABO, Joel Uychico conducted a two-day training and review for all boat captains in Pamilacan Island.
The training and review was held at the Eutiquio Cimafranca Cultural Center in this town where Municipal Councilor Carmen Gatal gave the welcome address, on behalf of Mayor Uy.
Mayor failed to be present during the activity, as he was attending the birthday celebration of his late father, Judge Antonio Oppus-Uy.
Diosdado Dominguez and Roland Tolentino of the Philipppine Asia handled the review on the August 29 session, while the Marina conducted the examination the next day.
Only those who will pass the examination can obtain licenses for boat captains from Marina.
According to Uychico, it was the first time that the training and review for boat captains were conducted outside the Marina office.
Uychico also said it his desire for all boat captains in Pamilacan Island and in Panglao manning vessels for whale-watching to have licenses for the them to always bear in mind their mandate and responsibilities.
This is considering that most of their clients are tourists.
Uychico is affiliated with the Ayala Foundation Inc.
