As someone slips into unconsciousness, it's usually hearing which is the last to be lost.

This is almost certainly the case also when someone is dying.

This is why you should continue to talk reassuringly to someone who is becoming unconscious or dying - they'll still be able to hear you even if they can't let you know....

When a patient passed away, one of the family members was crying. It was later made known to me that the particular family member was crying and telling his father how much he loved him, asking for his forgiveness. The son was weeping loudly, "Daddy, Daddy! Daddy don't go , please. I love you daddy!"

The son was in his 50's and his father who had passed away was in his 80's.

I'm sure that his father heard him. Even tho his father could not hug him or tell his son that he heard him or show any emotions, he heard him....
