Sec. Mercado, AFP Chief Reyes out soon

MANILA. - A major reorganization in the military is expected momentarily with the scheduled retirement of AFP Chief Angelo Reyes in March this year.
Defense Sec. Orlando Mercado will likewise resign if he pushes through his plan to run for senator.
The reorganization is expected two months from now.
Reyes will turn 56 in March. Even before he retires, several names have surfaced for his successor, namely: Vice Chief of Staff Jose Calimlim, Army Chief Leomeldo Villanueva, and Air Force Chief Benjamin Defensor, younger brother of Senator Miriam Defensor Santiago.
