RDC-8 hosts e-Solutions seminar and e-Business forumTacloban City (23 June 2005) -- Serious on its aim to become the Philippines' next ICT (Information and Communication Technology) Hub, the Regional Development Council has organized two (2) very important activities: the ICT Exhibits and e-Solutions Seminar, and the e-Business Forum, to happen this June 27 and 28, respectively.
Both activities will be held at the Leyte SMED Center, Tacloban City.
According to DTI Regional Director Cynthia Nierras, the e-Solutions Seminar will allow participants to see and learn the latest technological advancements thru displays and lectures on ICT-enabled business solutions.
For the e-Business Forum on June 28, various topics will be presented like Leyte Governor Jericho Petilla's "Eastern Visayas: The Next ICT Hub." Other presenters include top executives of e-Business firms and government officials from Manila.
Nierras said that topics such as "Positioning Brand Philippines in the Global ICT Market" and "Enabling ICT Hubs in the Provinces" will be discussed to know the e-business situation of the country, trends, and even how to put up an e-business.
The e-Business briefing will be very relevant to local businessmen, schools and local government units. Industry champions from Manila will talk about customer contact centers, medical transcriptions, business process outsourcing, software development, and many other interesting topics.
Nierras explained that since June was declared as ICT Month, the two activities are part of the Region's celebration of ICT Month. She added that on June 29, the Leyte LGU plans to launch and proclaim the Leyte ICT Park. This forms part of the ICT Expo sponsored by the RDC thru its Regional Information Technology and E-Commerce Committee (RITECC), in cooperation with the Leyte Provincial Government, DTI, Leyte Chamber of Commerce and Industry and Bayantel as the major sponsors. Other partner sponsors are Globelines, D-Link, Samsung and EDS.
