Ordinance giving incentives to officials serving 3 consecutive terms gets SB nod

LA TRINIDAD, Benguet, March 1 (PNA) –- The Sangguniang Bayan (SB) of La Trinidad, Benguet approved on its third and final reading an ordinance granting incentives to elected municipal and barangay officials who have served for three consecutive terms in the same position and shall be known as "The Third Term Services Recognition” Ordinance.

Authored by Municipal Councilors Teddy Quintos and Henry Kipas, the ordinance aims to officially recognize the valuable, unrecorded and immeasurable services rendered by elected officials.

Kipas, on Wednesday said that a symbolic token will be given in any form that would boost the morale and leadership capabilities of incoming future leaders and at the same time recognize the outgoing elected municipal and barangay officials.

Kipas added that former barangay and municipal officials who serve for three consecutive terms in one position are not receiving any recognition and these prompted them to create the ordinance.

In the ordinance, municipal elected official refers to the Municipal Mayor, Vice Mayor, Sanggunian Bayan and ex-officio members while the Barangay officials refers to the Barangay Chairman and its seven barangay kagawad or councilmen.

The symbolic token may refer to a plaque of recognition and any form of recognition and shall be given to the municipal or barangay awarded with inscription.

Deserving third term officials refer to elected municipal and barangay officials who finished consecutive terms and who have no pending criminal or administrative case filed in any court or who has not been convicted of any crime by any competent court.

Kipas said the ordinance is now forwarded to the Sanggunian Panlalawigan for posting and shall take effect upon approval and publication. (PNA)

John 3:16-18 ESV
For God so loved the world, that he gave his only Son (Jesus Christ), that whoever believes in him should not perish but have eternal life. For God did not send his Son into the world to condemn the world, but in order that the world might be saved through him. Whoever believes in him is not condemned, but whoever does not believe is condemned already, because he has not believed in the name of the only Son of God.
