OCD-CAR conducts training for future DRRM educators

BAGUIO CITY, Feb. 28 (PNA) -- The Office of Civil Defense–Cordillera Regional Office (OCD-CAR) has completed a five-day Training for Instructors (TFI) course for future disaster risk reduction and management (DRRM) educators in Tuba, Benguet.

OCD-CAR planning officer Dawn Lyndelle Fernando on Tuesday said the TFI course aims to train disaster managers on the use of three phases of basic teaching – informing, persuading and training.

Through this course, the Local Disaster Risk Reduction and Management (DRRM) officers in Cordillera Region, created a way for the community to be informed and be vigilant with the possible disasters and incidents that might transpire in the country, Fernando said.

Trainers from Bureau of Fire Protection, experts from Region VII, OCD, Philippine Tactical Rescue, Philippine Red Cross-Baguio, Emergency Response Unit Foundation (ERUF), Baguio City Emergency Medical Services (BCEMS) guided the participants in the five-day TFI course.

Thirty-six DRR personnel from different local DRRMCs, Philippine Army (PA), Philippine Air Force (PAF), Philippine National Police (PNP) and the Department of Education (DepEd) joined the TFI training course.

The TFI trainees were given challenges and tests that may affect their performances while responding to emergency calls.

These will make the trainees master their presentations and come up with a back-up plan during the circumstances.

Fernando said the goal of the training is to have a pool of DRRM courses in the Cordillera Region which may be used by future instructors and be able to teach in their own municipalities or communities.

The more prepared and well-informed the citizens are, the less casualties there will be, Fernando said.

The next TFI training will be conducted in the second quarter of this year. (PNA)

John 3:16-18 ESV
For God so loved the world, that he gave his only Son (Jesus Christ), that whoever believes in him should not perish but have eternal life. For God did not send his Son into the world to condemn the world, but in order that the world might be saved through him. Whoever believes in him is not condemned, but whoever does not believe is condemned already, because he has not believed in the name of the only Son of God.
