South Cotabato PPO shines at PNP anniversaryKoronadal City (31 January 2006) -- The South Cotabato Police Provincial Office (SCPPO) was adjudged as the country's second "Best Provincial Office" during the 15th Philippine National Police (PNP) Anniversary held at Camp Crame, Quezon City last January 29, 2006.
This was confirmed by P/SSupt. Getulio P. Napeñas, SCPPO Provincial Director in a long distance interview just recently. It was only during his stint as Police Director that SCPPO was given such distinction.
Garnering the "Best Police Provincial Office" is Benguet Police Provincial Office, while Negros Occidental Police Provincial Office got the "3rd Best".
P/SSupt. Napeñas who hails from La Union, is a member of the Philippine Military Academy (PMA) class of 1982. He is bemedalled police officer with a string of international assignments in East Timor, Kosovo and Cambodia. He was also assigned in ARMM in Region 12 during his stint in Mindanao.
Prior to his assignment as Provincial Director last March 3, 2005, Napeñas was assigned as Chief of Staff of the Special Action Force, an elite unit of the PNP.
Upon assumption, he initiated strings of reforms, especially in its administrative and operational capabilities.
These reforms resulted in the successful campaigns against most wanted persons and criminals, illegal drugs, illegal loggers, anti-gambling and anti-terrorism with a net result of increased crime solution efficiency.
Capability building trainings and relevant seminars including the purchase of mission essential equipment were likewise conducted to boost the morale and welfare of the police officers.
The PNP Anniversary for Region 12 will be celebrated on February 6, 2006, Monday at their regional office at Brgy. Tambler, General Santos City. PC/Supt. Danilo Mangila, PNP Regional Director 12 will lead the celebration.
The SCPPO Women and Children's Protection Desk (WCPD) will also receive the award as the region's "Best WCPD" during the said celebration. (Fruto C. Sumagaysay, Jr./PIO/PIA 12)
