PNP readies ample security for WVRAA meet

ROXAS CITY (31 January 2006) -- The Philippine National Police (PNP) will provide adequate security at the Villareal Stadium and other venues of the 2006 Western Visayas Regional Athletic Association (WVRAA) Meet which will be hosted by Capiz from March 12-16.

PNP Provincial Director Sr. Supt. Cipriano Querol, Jr. assured Gov. Vicente Bermejo and officials of the Schools Division of Capiz of the Department of Education (DepEd) that they will be fielding PNP personnel before the start of the regional meet as part of the welcome protocol for arriving delegations from Aklan, Antique, Guimaras, Iloilo and Negros Occidental.
The PNP Provincial Director made the assurance during the meeting of all working committees of the host province held at the Hall of Governors of the Provincial Capitol last Jan. 30.
Gov. Bermejo attended the meeting presided over by Capiz Schools Division Superintendent Lagrimas Ubal to find out for himself the progress of the preparations for the hosting of the event.

Querol, who chairs the Meet’s security, peace and order committee with Roxas City PNP Chief Supt. Domingo Cabillan and Evarisco Magoncia of DepEd as co-chairpersons, said they will deploy personnel on a 24-hour basis at the Villareal Stadium other venues of competitions, schools where the delegations will be billeted, and key areas outside the stadium.
The PNP will have to assign some of its personnel outside of the Villareal Stadium, the main venue of the meet, because other competitions such as badminton, table tennis, chess, and literary-musical or cultural will be held in pre-designated venues in the city.

Meanwhile, the delegations including that of the host province will be billeted in the following schools: Aklan, Capiz National High School; Antique, Filamer Christian College; Capiz, Capiz National High School; Guimaras, Banica Elementary School; Iloilo, Capiz State University-Dayao Campus; and Negros Occ., Pres. Manuel Roxas Memorial School-North and South.
Technical officials for the five-day meet will also be billeted at the Capiz National High School situated just across the main entrance to the stadium.

More than 2,000 athletes and officials are expected to participate in this year’s WVRAA meet.
Querol said they will tap the support of Criminology students here in providing for the security needs of the regional competition. (PIA-JSC)

John 3:16-18 ESV
For God so loved the world, that he gave his only Son (Jesus Christ), that whoever believes in him should not perish but have eternal life. For God did not send his Son into the world to condemn the world, but in order that the world might be saved through him. Whoever believes in him is not condemned, but whoever does not believe is condemned already, because he has not believed in the name of the only Son of God.
