Butuan City (24 June 2005) -- In line with the government's thrust of alleviating poverty and providing a better life to every Filipino, the Human Development and Social Services and Protection Cluster of the Regional KALAHI Convergence Group (RKCG) is set to assess the commitments made by its members to KALAHI areas of the region last year.
The developmental interventions delivered to the 65 prioritized barangays of Caraga will also be discussed in the meeting set on June 28, 2005 at 8:00 am at the Philippine National Police Regional Office 13 Conference Room.
The Kapit-Bisig Laban sa Kahirapan (KALAHI) is the over-arching poverty alleviation program of Pres. Arroyo. It is a focused, accelerated, convergent, and expanded, and strategic effort to reduce poverty of her administration. President Arroyo institutionalized KALAHI as the government's program for poverty reduction through Memorandum Circular No. 33 issued on November 28, 2002.
As part of the continuing advocacy of KALAHI, a regional mobile tarpaulin info exhibit of BEAT THE ODDS - the 10-point legacy agenda of Pres. Arroyo is now on display at the Agusan del Norte provincial capitol following its 10-day display at the People's Hall in Butuan City. (PIA AMO-13)
