GMA needs a Vice President

       It is unfair to judge the capabilities of President Gloria Macapagal Arroyo at this point in time after her ten-day old incumbency in Malacanang. But considering in time the magnitude of the President’s task, the truth of the matter is that President Arroyo is now carrying a heavy load on her shoulders and needs as many available hands which are willing to extend assistance and compassion.
        This is the proper time when President Arroyo needs a vice president. While no deadline has been set by any mandate for the president to appoint her vice president, it cannot be denied that the problems of the nation are mounting everyday. She direly needs a vice president very urgently to lend a helping hand.
        She is a competent public official in her own right having been a senator for one term and a member of Estrada’s cabinet for 30 months and as a daughter of President, she has acclimatize herself with the environment of the presidency. The problems of the presidency are indeed gargantuan and the solutions of which are very demanding especially at this time when multifarious problems are emerging daily.
        She was suddenly thrust into the presidency almost without any warning but she has to face the music courageously.
       She has acquired some knowledge and experience to run the affairs of government but a vice president is very necessary to share the heavy load of the presidency heaped on a lady’s shoulders almost suddenly.
There are several willing hands ready to extend assistance to the presidency. There are qualified men around her like Senate President Aquilino Pimentel Jr., Senators Raul Roco, Teofisto Guingona and others who are ready and very eager to assume the vice presidency when called upon.
         President Macapagal Arroyo is biding her time but even in the absence of a deadline, she must now appoint a vice president and help her carry the burdens of the new government which has just emerged from the throes of political struggle.
       Of course, the President should not make a wrong choice from one wo can render assistance to lighten the heavy burden. 
      The country is indeed faced with the tremendous task of healing the wounds of the nation and building the damaged ramparts of a new government.
       President Arroyo should now choose a vice president who will be able to share the responsibilities of a big challenge and a heavy burden on her shoulders.
