Australian firm launches hydrogen-power technology in Ilocos Sur
By Freddie G. Lazaro

VIGAN CITY, Ilocos Sur (24 June 2005) - A representative of the Australian Alternative Energy International launched the first-ever hydrogen-power technology project in the country during the 64th birthday anniversary celebration of Governor Luis Chavit Singson in Baluarte, Vigan City recently.

A simple demo witnessed by about 10,000 residents was conducted highlighting the process on how hydrogen-generating power is produced. In the demo, ordinary water was mixed with some chemicals and hydrogen gas came out from the devise producing flame when ignited.

The technology is quite very simple. Ordinary water will be use to produce energy through the separation of the element of hydrogen and oxygen thru electrolysis.

"The continuous oil price increase in the global market inspired me to conceptualized a hydrogen-power project in Ilocos Sur. The country's first hydrogen power project will be located in Baluarte, this province wherein the machines required will be manufactured here," Singson said.

Singson also stressed that America recently announced that the utilization of hydrogen power will be launch in 2010 while many vehicles in Europe and Australia now use hydrogen power cell to power their vehicles.

In the United States, this hydrogen power was firstly used through the National Aeronautical Space Administration (NASA) in the flying of space shuttle and rockets in the outer space.

"Actor-Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger of California is another example who uses hydrogen fuel cell in running his car," Singson further explained.

With this technology, the governor is optimistic that the province of Ilocos Sur will be generating great savings in electric consumption because the plan was to distribute it to all households at a lower price per kilowatt in coordination with the Ilocos Sur Electric Cooperative (ISECO).

He also stressed that this hydrogen power technology will be used to convert and operate the Bataan Nuclear Power Plant in the future, considering that funds used for its establishment are still being paid today.

Aside from the hydrogen power project, the governor encourage the conceptualization of other energy projects that will greatly benefit the people of Ilocos Sur, such as the sea-solar power project and the Ilocos Norte wind power project. (PIA Ilocos)

John 3:16-18 ESV
For God so loved the world, that he gave his only Son (Jesus Christ), that whoever believes in him should not perish but have eternal life. For God did not send his Son into the world to condemn the world, but in order that the world might be saved through him. Whoever believes in him is not condemned, but whoever does not believe is condemned already, because he has not believed in the name of the only Son of God.
