Cagayan de Oro City (27 June 2005) -- “EVERY child in the barangay must be in school,” Eulogio Suaner, Tablon National High School principal quoted Education Secretary Butch Abad’s advocacy during the recent turn-over ceremony of the two-classroom building donated by Nestle Philippines Inc. under the Classroom Galing sa Manggagawang Pilipino Abroad (CGMA) Project of President Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo and facilitated by the Department of Labor and Employment.

The Tablon National High School (TNHS) in Barangay Tablon, Cagayan de Oro City is very lucky for having been a recipient of Nestle’s program bearing the corporate slogan “Sulong sa Pagbabago, Magkapit-bisig Tayo,” Suaner further said.

According to Nestle Philippines, they believe in the traditional value attached to education as a way out of poverty, thus their involvement in the development of the TNHS, which began as early as 1997 when the school was founded. As one of its initiators, Nestle Philippines donated two classrooms equipped with tables and chairs.

On July 9, 2004, through the CGMA Project, they again donated P450,000 for the construction of a two-classroom building to address the problem of classroom shortage of the school. As a bonus, Nestle completed the construction of the building with a set of 30 chairs per classroom in time for the June school opening.

Suaner said the new classrooms is now helping the TNHS improve the quality of education since it reduced the classroom-student ratio from 1:80 last year to 1:60 starting this school year.
Classes are now conducted more effectively and comfortably, he added.

Overseas Workers Welfare Administration (OWWA) Administrator Marianito D. Roque, who was present during the turn-over ceremony, narrated how they first launched the CGMA Project in Saudi Arabia.

He expressed gratitude to Nestle Philippines for their generosity and said he is looking forward for more companies in the country to help in providing better quality public education.

For her part, Asst. Schools Division Supt. Greta C. Guria of the Department of Education echoed the same sentiment and called on Nestle to extend their generosity to other public schools in Cagayan de Oro.

The CGMA Project is also supported by the Department of Foreign Affairs and the national and local chapters of the Federation of Filipino Chinese Chamber of Commerce and Industry Inc. (FCCCII). (DOLE-10/Ragcom)

John 3:16-18 ESV
For God so loved the world, that he gave his only Son (Jesus Christ), that whoever believes in him should not perish but have eternal life. For God did not send his Son into the world to condemn the world, but in order that the world might be saved through him. Whoever believes in him is not condemned, but whoever does not believe is condemned already, because he has not believed in the name of the only Son of God.
