DOLE celebrates Working Youth DayTacloban City (31 January 2006) -- February 15, 2006 will be marked as Working Youth Day, in which the Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) region 8 has lined up several activities for the day.
As the theme, "Batang Mangagawa: Dakila Ka" denotes, the yearly affair will surely give honors as well as acknowledge the efforts our Filipino youth have contributed to the total national economic development.
To promote public awareness of the celebration, a motorcade around Tacloban City will start at 12:30 in the afternoon, after which a mass will be said, followed by the cutting of ribbon for the exhibit of different agencies’ programs and services.
The highlight of the activities will be the Laro ng Lahi, a showcase of old native games, to be participated in by some 150 youth workers in the city.
The day’s affair will also feature a variety show whose professional performers will also come from the youth cluster.
The working youth are the young Filipino workers who are among the program beneficiaries of President Arroyo’s Job Creation thrust, through the efforts of the Department of Labor and Employment. (PIA
